Interested in taking yoga, but totally intimidated by the concept of a class? You aren’t the only one! Most people will tell you that they were quite nervous the first time they took a yoga class too!

But why is this? I think it’s because a lot of people think that you have to be a certain “type” of person—a certain size, age, shape, level of fitness or flexibility—in order to do yoga; some people are afraid that they won’t be able to keep up, or that they’ll “hold back” the rest of the class; and some people are just unsure if they’ll like it or feel foolish doing crazy postures.

No worries! Yoga is for everyone!

Everyone comes to yoga for different reasons and at different levels of ability. We all start somewhere, and all of us are beginners sometimes. The point with yoga is to be who and where you are, and not worry about what others are doing. You just be yourself!

Besides, good teachers adjust every class to meet the needs of the students present—so there’s no way that a brand-new beginner won’t keep up or hold back the rest. Teachers and fellow students love having a newbie with whom to share the joy of yoga!

So, just take a deep breath, and give it a try! The adventure of Yoga is waiting for you!
